The wonderful thing about gardening is that there is always something new to learn.
That was the opportunity given at the first annual Central Alberta Garden Round Up held on February 24 at the Stettler Agriplex.
Organizer Rebecca Krause from Wallaby Ag said the turnout for the event was even better than she had hoped.
The event began at 9 a.m. and featured a full day of sessions featuring various speakers sharing their expertise on different topics.
Whether a large commercial producer or a container gardener, the sessions had some great takeaways for everyone.
From growing microgreens to fruit trees, the benefits of using native plants, to a small school that turned farming and producing into a successful education model. Attendees were also educated on plant nutrition, soil and insect issues.
It was a full day of learning, but scheduled breaks allowed guests to check out the mini trade show and speak one-on-one with the speakers in attendance.
The final speaker from DNA Gardens offered samples of the various wines and spirits they create from their orchard.
