“I’m ready to move on to a new chapter in my life.” A remark made confidently by cafe owner Brenda Murray. After a decade of serving the community on Main Street, Brenda’s Cozy Cafe will close on March 28th.

She reflected on some of her favourite moments. “Whether it was food bank battles with Bernie at Wells Furniture or donating turkey dinners to hospital workers on Christmas. We also fed Fort McMurray evacuees after the fires and helped to fundraise for a Ukrainian restaurant when the war broke out.”

Brenda has also spent many years helping organizations around town with her time and effort, such as the Rotary, Kidsport, Stettler Minor Football, the HYC, and the Long Table event.

The cafe was awarded Stettler’s 2020 Business of the Year in part for her generosity. Brenda purchased Maggie Joe’s Catering Cafe on Main Street in 2013, which became Brenda’s Cozy Cafe.

“I’d like to express a huge amount of gratitude to my staff, past & present. You made coming to work such a joy. Without you, I would not have been able to follow my dream of owning and running a café.

As for what’s next…I don’t know yet, all I know is I love this community and have no plans of going anywhere. I’m certain I will find something new and exciting to keep me out of trouble.”
