The weekend of June 7 and 8 was a remarkable celebration of community spirit and tradition in the Heart of Alberta.
The town hosted a series of vibrant events in conjunction with the annual Stettler Steel Wheel Stampede. The festivities united residents and visitors in a heartwarming display of local pride and camaraderie.
The Stettler Steel Wheel Stampede Bulls and Broncs event, held on the evenings of June 7 and 8, 2024, was a spectacular showcase of rodeo talent and community spirit.
Drawing crowds from near and far, the event featured two nights of adrenaline-pumping action as cowboys and cowgirls competed in bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing and even bull fighting!
Both nights of rodeo action was followed up with a cabaret featuring Mitch Larock and the 4:54 band in the beer gardens to keep the party going.
Saturday, June 8 was a day of nonstop fun for the whole family starting off the Town of Stettler Pancake Breakfast!
With full bellies, crowds picked out a perfect vantage point for the Stettler Steel Wheel Parade! Over 65 parade entries delighted spectators and garnered cheers and applause along the route.
On the north end of Main Street, car enthusiasts flocked to the Stettler Show and Shine, where a stunning array of classic cars, hot rods and custom vehicles were on display. Owners proudly showcased their restored and modified automobiles, sharing stories and details with admirers.
Adding to the weekend excitement was the Heartland Youth Centre Soapbox Derby, a beloved event that captivated participants and onlookers alike. With their meticulously designed and painted soapbox cars, young racers competed down the sloped track, showcasing their engineering skills and competitive spirit.
Those feeling hungry after all that fun headed over to Stettler Mall to take in the Customer Appreciation Market and BBQ before making their way back down for the second evening of rodeo action!
