A mild weekend helped bring out folks for the 2nd annual Heritage Expo at the Stettler Museum. The event, held August 17 and 18 featured historical demonstrations of sights that would have been common to see in our area.
Following a pancake breakfast provided by the County of Stettler, the museum opened its doors, showing off how cream & butter are made by hand.
Attendees could then taste the butter before heading to the blacksmithing demonstrations.

Once in the field, one could watch a horse & binder cut the crop, which was then fed into a threshing machine.
There was also a horse-powered hay press to churn out square bales, which were ideal to load onto train cars. The museum also got a 1927 Maytag washing machine running, with a design very similar to what you find in today’s machines.

inally, the Stettler Antique Tractor Club held a tractor pull demonstration as folks wandered through the rows of classic trucks, cars and equipment.
The theme of this year’s Heritage Expo was International branded trucks & tractors, following the inaugural event’s success featuring “150 years of John Deere” in 2023.
