The annual Alberta Open Farm Days is a province-wide celebration and happened this year on August 17 & 18.

Open Farm Days is a chance to bring Albertans together through educational and experimental agriculture-based initiatives to learn more about where their food comes from and the hardworking producers who make it.

There was an Open Farm Days celebration held at the Stettler Agriplex on Saturday, August 17. The event featured informative and interactive displays, a free hot dog lunch and a chance to meet a friendly group of Alpaca’s to go with this year’s Open Farm Days theme – Year of the Alpaca.

A Bench Fair was held in conjunction with the Open Farm Days events at the Stettler Agriplex.

Bench Fairs have been part of Alberta since the 1800s and are a way to celebrate the talents of those in our communities. Even though it’s been a while since a Bench Fair has been held in Stettler, it saw a great variety of entries from the talented folks in our community.

Participants were invited to share their talents through photography, art, quilting, baking, wood working, horticulture and more. Judging for the event happened earlier in the day, and the public was encouraged to browse through the many entries throughout the afternoon.
