Town Council received a second request from the County of Stettler in November to help with the cost of dust control on 38 Ave.
The County had previously asked the Town to assist in paying for dust control on the section of 38 Ave from Range Road 19-1, west to 50 Street.
Although the gravel road on the south end of Stettler falls under the Town’s jurisdiction, the County has been performing weekly grading due to the high traffic flow in the area.
Administration requested council explore setting up a joint agreement with the County to handle concerns for boundary roads.
Council approved of the idea, so that there would be a policy to reference for dust control, road improvements & cost-sharing agreements such as this one.
The Town of Stettler & County of Stettler have collaborated on previous joint agreements, such as water & wastewater policies & local doctor recruitment efforts.
