Dog & Cat Licence Fees:

Setting the annual rates for dog & cat licence fees was on the agenda for the second council meeting of November.

Nearly 800 dogs and over 300 cats were registered in the program in 2024.

The cost is $25 for a spayed dog or cat, or $50 if they are unaltered. Meanwhile, replacement tags are $10.

The identification program assists bylaw officers with returning lost pets to their owners.

Council voted to set the 2025 fees at the same rate as last year.

Residents can receive $10 off if they register between December 1, 2024 – January 31, 2025.

Business Licence Fees:

Business licence fees was the next topic on the agenda.

A discussion was had over the rationale of having two separate fees for business licences in Stettler.

Residents pay an annual fee of $150, while non-residents pay $350 a year.

Administration clarified those who live outside of town, but within the County of Stettler are considered local residents.

However, businesses registered outside of these boundaries are considered non-residents.

Council voted in favour of keeping the 2025 fees at the same rate as last year.
