2025 Community Flowers
Purchasing flowers for the flower beds around Stettler came to the council table on Nov 19.
A request for quotes was sent out to three local greenhouses, with two proposals received back.
Council voted to award the tender to Howe’s Greenhouse for $10,287.00 excluding GST.
Administration explained the company has been contracted for a number of years to fill the raised beds and hanging baskets around Stettler.
They’ll also fill the beds at West Stettler Park, and the large heart shaped bed on 50th Ave.
Elm Tree Trimming
Trimming of elm trees around Stettler was a timely topic in late November.
After a survey by town staff, council learned there are 74 elm trees around the community in need of trimming.
This is typically done between October and late March, in order to prevent the spread of Dutch Elm disease.
Administration recommended council go with Razor’s Edge Tree Services for a total of $10,450.
A total of $13,000 had been set aside in the 2024 Operating Budget to hire a tree contractor to assist the Town of Stettler.
