Stettler Town Council approved an interim operating budget for 2025 during their regular meeting on December 17.

The document proposes a 6 percent increase to property tax rates, as well as a two dollar increase to water, sewer, garbage & recycling rates.

Council felt the increases are needed to maintain services, after three years of zero percent increases from 2020 until 2022.

This follows a 3 percent increase last year, and a 4 percent increase in 2023.

Administration noted a number of rising costs over the past year such as insurance, RCMP contracting & doctor recruitment efforts.

Note the interim budget does not set the property tax rates, but instead provides funding for programs & services until the Operating Budget is approved in May.

At that time, council will deliberate a finalized rate for 2025 property taxes.

Water, Sewer, Garbage & Recycling Bylaws

Following approval of the interim budget on December 17, Stettler Town Council held first, second & third readings on the increases to the water, sewer, garbage & recycling bylaws.

Water Rates – Effective Jan 1, 2025: In-Town Customers – $3.24 per cubic metre or a $12 flat fee per month
