Stettler County Council has approved the purchase of a third plow truck to assist with snow clearing operations. As part of the 2025 budget process, a new plow truck/sander was identified as a priority.

The County of Stettler operates two plow trucks covering areas stretching from Erskine to Byemoor. Administration noted a third vehicle would be useful if one or more trucks require maintenance.

Council spent some time on Feb 12 discussing between two bids from the four submissions received. The recommendation was for a MAC truck from Brandt Truck Riggings & Trailers of Calgary for $487,725.00, available for immediate delivery.

The other bid was for a Freightliner truck for $375,923 from Viking Cives Ltd. of Nisku, with a 45 week delivery timeline.

Council chose to go with the Freightliner truck, and expressed hope it will arrive in time for next winter.
