Prioritizing which parks & green spaces need work around the community was on the agenda at Stettler Town Council on Feb 18.

A new Parks & Open Space Master Plan was before council, to give them an idea of which areas need rehabilitation or expansion.

The highest priority looks at amenities due for upgrades within the year, such as the West Stettler Spray Park and the Railway Kinsmen Tot Lot across from the No Frills.

Next on the list is infrastructure slated for work within one to four years, such as updating the Memorial Park at the school complex and the Cold Lake trail.

Upgrading the Stettler Dog Park and the Pioneer Park across from the RCMP station were also listed to be looked at in the coming years.

The last master plan was completed by council in 2006, and is used as a reference when deciding where new sidewalks, nature trails and multi-use paths will go.
