The Performing Arts Centre at the Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus

An update on the work to the Performing Arts Centre was brought to town council on April 15.

The facility attached to the Clearview Public school complex first opened in 1986, and has been undergoing renovations to the sound system over the past few months.

The sound booth has also been redesigned to give more of an open concept and a new lighting board has been installed.

As the centre has not had major upgrades since it opened, it was explained that further upgrades to the lighting systems will require infrastructure upgrades.

In order to upgrade the lighting system and purchase the remaining overhead and side lights, the centre is looking at a cost of about $74,269.64.

The Fine Arts Board has been meeting with community groups such as the Rotary and are looking at grants to see if costs could be reduced.

William E. Hay High School handles the cost of heating & maintaining the building & has been contributing to the renovations.

Council moved to bring the topic to a future meeting for further discussion on their involvement with the project.
