An update on the STARS Air Ambulance Service was on the agenda for the April 15 council meeting.

Shannon Paquette of STARS, was there to update the council on their missions over the past 15 years.

Since 2010, 131 Stettler County residents have been flown by the helicopter service, with 47 of those calls coming from 18 locations outside of the region.

They’re called on an average of 14 missions to the Stettler area each year, and rely on donations, fundraisers and lotteries for about 56% of their funding.

Since 1993, the Town of Stettler has supported STARS with a current standing motion of $12,000 in annual funding.

Paquette closed by presenting the council with a framed photo & plaque as a show of thanks for their support.
