The County of Stettler’s Agriculture Services Board has decided on the recipient of their annual bursary program. Each year, a $1,000 grant is offered to area students who live within the County of Stettler to use towards their post-secondary education.
Rachael Deaver, who is studying to be a large animal veterinarian, was the board’s nominee among seven applicants this year. An invite will be issued to have her join the board at the June Ag Services meeting for a photo opportunity.
Coun. Paul McKay noted there were many worthy candidates, but two had to be disqualified as they did not live in the County.
The shortage of vets in our area was also highlighted, similar to the shortage of doctors Stettler has seen in recent years.
