A recent workshop hosted by the County of Stettler and Clearview Public Schools gave local students a glimpse into potential career paths.
The two-day event, held April 22 and April 24, brought together eight female students from Wm. E. Hay Secondary Campus and the Outreach program for a hands-on experience at the County of Stettler’s shop facility.

County council heard during its May 14 meeting that the first day included classroom instruction led by female mentors, who guided participants through health and safety requirements for working on a job site.
The second day involved practical exercises in welding, auto repair, firefighting and operating heavy equipment.
Students were also introduced to apprenticeship opportunities in these fields and received their own personal protective equipment to take home.
