The Town of Stettler will contribute up to $27,000 toward lighting upgrades at the Performing Arts Centre, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the facility.

The funding, approved at the May 20 council meeting, will come from the town’s community development fund and will go toward new overhead lighting at the venue.

Located within the Clearview school complex, the Performing Arts Centre first opened in 1986 and has recently undergone sound system upgrades. The lighting overhaul is the next step in enhancing the space for community use.

The project is also supported by a $10,000 donation from the Stettler Rotary Club and contributions from William E. Hay Secondary Campus to upgrade the lighting capability in the facility.

Council first received a report on the proposed upgrades in April, as organizers continued seeking additional funding to complete the work.
