Voters in the Town and County of Stettler & surrounding areas will head to the polls next month for a federal byelection in the Battle River–Crowfoot riding.

The vote was triggered after Damien Kurek resigned his seat following his re-election in the April 28 general election.

Kurek stepped aside to allow Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to seek a seat in the Alberta riding, after narrowly losing his Carleton, Ont., seat on election night.

Polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18. Advance voting is scheduled for Aug. 8 to 11, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Voters can cast their ballot early at an Elections Canada office any time before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Those wishing to vote by mail must apply for a special ballot by the same date.

Completed mail-in ballots must be returned to Elections Canada by the close of polls on election day, either by mail (deadlines apply) or in person at the local Elections Canada office.
