County of Stettler council has awarded the contract for the Gadsby storm water drainage project to Action Plumbing, with a bid of $296,980.05, excluding GST.
The project aims to address longstanding drainage issues in the Hamlet of Gadsby, with upgrades including ditch regrading & culvert replacements just north of the community.
MPE Engineering, who was hired in 2021 to develop a master drainage plan for the area, oversaw the tender process and evaluated the three bids received.
Submissions included:
- Action Plumbing: $296,980.05
- Grayson Excavating: $645,413.33
- CBO Earthworks: $971,828.82
Despite MPE initially recommending Grayson Excavating Ltd., council opted to award the contract to the lowest bidder, Action Plumbing.
The scope of work includes the removal of existing culverts and installation of new ones, as well as the construction of a drainage swale for water runoff.
The total cost of the project is expected to be fully covered by grants through the Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) and the Canada Community-Building Fund.
