Stettler County Council considered purchasing a used grader to help maintain and upgrade its road maintenance fleet during their June 25 meeting.
Operations staff have recommended the acquisition of a used 140M3 tandem drive grader from Finning CAT for $228,000 plus tax.
The 2018 CAT 140M3 unit, with 5,975 hours of use, was previously owned by a Saskatchewan municipality and is undergoing repairs to fix a wiring issue.
Council voted during their June 25 meeting to defer on a decision at this time, and will bring it back for future consideration.
In addition to the grader, administration is also looking to purchase equipment for it for $52,829 plus tax.
This would enable the grader to be used as a road reclaimer and roadside mower—eliminating the current reliance on a single grader for these tasks.
Administration is looking to add another grader to the fleet, as all of them are currently in service, in case of a breakdown.
