Stettler Town Council has approved funding to enhance the entrance to the local museum.
The Town & Country museum’s current entrance causes traffic bottlenecks during events, as the single-lane access cannot accommodate two-way vehicle flow.
Town staff met with museum representatives and determined that there is adequate space to widen the existing entrance and construct a new approach to the west side of the property.
A cost estimate was prepared for the project to widen the existing entrance and lane to the parking lot:
- Culvert removal and replacement: $960
- Crushed gravel installation: $2,500
- Town equipment and labour: $6,000
A second estimate was put together to add a new approach to the west parcel:
- New culvert installation: $960
- Crushed gravel installation: $950
- Town equipment and labour: $2,000
During their July 8 meeting, council approved the use of town labour and equipment, and will cover the $3,570 in material costs through the Community Development Fund.
As part of the motion, council will also approach the County of Stettler about cost-sharing the material cost for the project.
