Residents of the Summer Village of White Sands have elected a new council following the 2025 municipal election held on Aug. 2.

Five candidates were on the ballot vying for three council seats. A public forum was hosted at the village hall on July 24 to give voters an opportunity to hear from each candidate.

The election results:

Dan Zembal – 177 votes (elected)

Leona G. Thorogood – 171 votes (elected)

Paul Ashford – 140 votes (elected)

Barry Guenette – 79 votes

The summer village also recognized the retirement of longtime Mayor Lorne Thurston, who is stepping down after more than two decades on council.
