The Town of Stettler is introducing a new residential development incentive to encourage the construction of rental housing.

Under the program approved during council on August 5, completed housing projects would be eligible for funding based on the type of development.

Single-family dwellings: $3,000

Multi-family dwellings: $5,000

Apartment buildings with five or more units: $10,000

Council approved a $40,000 budget for the remainder of 2025 to come from the economic development incentive reserve.

Funding would be distributed to developers upon project completion, which includes meeting all development permit conditions.

The need for rental housing in the community was identified in a housing assessment survey done in June 2024.
