Stettler’s Catholic community gathered on Sunday, Sept. 21, for a special mass marking the 75th anniversary of Christ King parish.
The celebration continued at the Stettler Community Hall, where leaders from other Christian denominations offered their congratulations.
Following an afternoon luncheon, parishioners viewed a slideshow highlighting the church’s history & the pastors who have served over the decades.

Catholic presence in the Stettler area dates back to 1906, when French missionaries ministered to early settlers. They were later joined by Irish priests to meet the growing community’s spiritual needs.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help was built in 1909 and remained the centre of Catholic worship until the mid 1940’s, when the building was deemed too small & in need of repair.
A parish hall was built in 1947 to host services while construction began on a new church. Christ King parish was completed in 1949 & officially dedicated on Nov. 23, 1950.
