The County of Stettler has set Oct. 14 as the move-in date for their new fire hall.
Administration announced the timeline during the Sept. 24 council meeting, noting that the bulk of personal protective equipment is expected to arrive in time.
The new hall is located on the east side of Stettler, at Highway 12 & 38th Street.
In May, the county said it would leave its fire services agreement with the Town of Stettler and establish a regional fire commission.
The Heartland Regional Fire Commission includes the county, the villages of Donalda & Big Valley, & the summer villages of Rochon Sands and White Sands.
A board of directors made up of the five municipalities is expected to be in place by Jan. 1.
Council also heard a volunteer firefighter benefits package is set to come forward at the Oct. 8 meeting, the final one before the municipal election.
Meanwhile, the Stettler Regional Fire Department will transition to being operated by the Town of Stettler.
