Two lots in Stettler’s Heartland Business Park will be exempt from municipal property taxes for three years beginning in 2026.

County council voted 6-1 on Sept. 24 to approve a 100 per cent exemption for the properties occupied by Highway 12 Sales and Bounty Onsite.

The application was made by Highway 12 Real Estate Inc., which relocated Highway 12 Sales to make way for the new Stettler County Fire Hall and Storm Mountain Outfitters.

The county estimates the tax break will cost about $30,051 in tax revenue in 2026, based on 2024 assessment values. Coun. Grover cast the lone vote against.

The exemption applies only to the municipal share of property taxes. Levies for schools, housing, waste management, recreation, doctor recruitment & policing will remain unchanged.
