The County of Stettler council has approved a motion for a new audio system after ongoing frustrations with its current setup for council meetings.

At its latest meeting, (Oct. 8) council reviewed a proposal to replace the existing microphones with a system designed for conference use.

Council approved a quote from Matrix Video Communications Corp. for up to $28,861, plus GST. The expense will be funded through operating funds & general reserves.

The County’s existing microphones system is about a decade old. Officials say the microphones can be confusing to operate & allows only one person to speak at a time.

The new system will be wired, & will give the meeting chair the ability to reduce unwanted noise. It will also include accessibility features such as headphone connections for those who are hard of hearing.
