Voters in the Botha, Byemoor & Castor areas chose their trustees for Clearview Public Schools in Monday’s election.
In Ward 4 (Botha-Byemoor), John Schofer was re-elected trustee, edging out challenger Daram Van Oers by five votes.
In Ward 5 (Castor), Erika Grice defeated opponent Wendy Coppock. The other five trustees on the Clearview board were filled by acclamation.

At a forum on Oct. 8, prospective trustees discussed funding pressures, enrollment issues & the role of the school boards in supporting rural communities.
Candidates emphasized the importance of keeping small rural schools open & maintaining full-time kindergarten.
In Ward 1 (Donalda & Erskine), Guy Neitz was acclaimed, while newcomer Barbara Gano was acclaimed in Ward 2 (Big Valley).
In Ward 3 (Stettler), Rebecca Scott & Greg Hayden were acclaimed for the two positions. Shauna-Lee Thomas was also acclaimed in Ward 6 (Brownfield & Coronation).
The school division election was held alongside municipal votes in the Town of Stettler & the County of Stettler. Trustees will now meet on October 30 at 9:30 a.m. to be sworn in.
In the East Central Alberta Catholic division, Ryan Bolin was acclaimed as trustee for Ward 3 (Stettler/Killam), succeeding Duane Austin.
