The local Royal Canadian Legion branch is gearing up for Remembrance Day with several activities in the coming weeks.
Volunteers will begin delivering poppy boxes around town on Oct. 31 at 10 a.m., marking the official start of the annual poppy campaign.
Ceramic centerpiece poppies, wreaths & crosses will also be sold Monday to Friday between 1 & 4 p.m. until Nov. 8 at the Legion. (5010 51 St)
The community will gather Nov. 11 at the Performing Arts Centre for Stettler’s Remembrance Day ceremony.
As part of the commemorations, the “No Stone Left Alone” ceremony will be held Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Lake View Cemetery. (3810 50 St.)
The event invites local students to place poppies on the headstones of fallen soldiers & veterans, as a way to connect the youth with Canada’s history.
