The County of Stettler has approved a $5,000 contribution to Stettler & District Home Support for 2026, renewing its annual support for the program’s rural travel expenses.
The funding request came to the county’s Nov. 12 council meeting from Stettler Family and Community Support Services.
The $5,000 grant will subsidize mileage & travel time for aides serving rural clients, who help residents access house cleaning, laundry & meal preparation services.
FCSS says the program helps clients remain in their homes longer & reduces strain on Alberta Health Services for treatment beds.
Four of the program’s five aides serve rural areas, each averaging three county clients per month.
The program serves mainly low-income seniors & people with disabilities who often lack nearby family support.
The agency previously received a $5,000 contribution from the county in 2025, set aside from the rural development fund.
