County of Stettler council has signed off on buying two new rapid-response trucks for their rural fire stations.
At its Nov. 12 meeting, council approved purchasing a pair of 2026 Ford F-550 Crew Cab XLT units from Aspen Ford Sales Ltd. of Stettler for $97,695 each, plus GST.
The total cost comes to $205,159.50, with delivery expected in early 2026.
Two local bids were received through the Alberta Purchasing Connection before the Oct. 2 deadline in Stettler Dodge & Aspen Ford.
The trucks will replace the rapid-response units in Donalda and Byemoor, which date back to 1997 & 1994.
Fire Services will return to council for approval of additional equipment for the units such as storage cabinets, lighting & decals.
The purchase of the new rapid response units comes as the Town & County divide up assets from the Stettler Regional Fire Department.
Last month, the County moved their fire station in Stettler to the Heartland Business Park.
A committee representing the County, Donalda, Big Valley & the summer villages chose the name “Heartland Regional Fire” in October.
