The County of Stettler council has approved a $10,000 increase to the Buffalo Lake Public Access Enhancement Project budget.

The decision came during council’s Nov. 26 meeting, where administration recommended the funding be approved to prepare detailed cost estimates for three future lake access sites.

The increase will support work by Parkland Community Planning Services, which was assigned the project earlier this year.

Council first authorized the project on Feb. 27, 2025 to prepare concept designs for access points at the Buffalo View Estates marina, the Scenic Sands park, & the utility lot at Buffalo Lake Meadows.

A final report on the project is expected to come to council by late March 2026.

Administration noted having detailed cost estimates would help set an implementation schedule if council approves the access concepts in the spring.
