Town council has signed off on the Stettler Public Library’s 2026 budget request, approving the funding during its Dec. 2 meeting ahead of next week’s interim budget deliberations.

The library is seeking $260,286 from the town for 2026, a $4,688 increase over the previous year’s request of $255,598.

The Stettler Public Library’s total 2026 budget amounts to $539,704.00, up from $532,491.00 the year prior.

Aside from providing access to books, magazines & movies, the library also has a large range of digital materials.

It was noted during their presentation that the cost of digital materials has been rising due to expiring licenses on e-books.

The library also offers printing, copying & scanning services, exam spaces & a variety of community programming.

Library officials pointed to a growing demand for courses on technology support & staying safe online.

Interim budget deliberations for all Town of Stettler departments is set for Dec. 9.
