The Town of Stettler council has approved the 2026 chemical supply contracts for the local water treatment plant.

Council approved the tenders at its Dec. 16 meeting after reviewing bids from multiple suppliers.

The water treatment plant historically spends about $210,000 per year on chemicals, with the 2026 operating budget setting aside $220,000 for those purchases.

The majority of contracts were awarded to the lowest-priced bidder between three companies; Cleartech, Klearwater & Brenntag.

Council also approved an exception for sodium hypochlorite, a time-sensitive chemical for water disinfection.

While Brenntag submitted a lower-priced bid, administration recommended awarding the product to Cleartech instead, citing past supply chain disruptions.

Council awarded the 2026 chemical supply bids as presented, with funding to come from the 2026 operating budget.
