The Jewel Theatre in Stettler has been sold

The Stettler Mennonite Church has agreed to purchase the vacant Jewel Theatre, with plans to renovate the downtown building into a new church.

The Jewel Theatre, which first opened in 1953, closed its doors in December 2023 & has sat unused since.

Pastor Karl Derstine said the congregation has been meeting for the past four years in an upstairs space at Stettler Tool & Hardware.

He said the church has been searching for a more open venue to better serve its members & the wider community.

The church has been looking for a ground level space due to the number of steps to the upstairs of Stettler Tool & Hardware.

If renovations proceed as expected, Derstine said the church hopes to open the new space in the spring of 2026.

The church does not have a social media presence, but members of the public are welcome to reach out with questions.
