Local business owners gathered at the Stettler Regional Board of Trade on Feb. 10 for their annual AGM.

Executive Director Byron Geddes called 2025 a year of “bests”, as both the Trade Show & Stettlerfest saw record attendance.

The board of trade also hosted two employment fairs & helped transition the Big Jack Classic fishing derby to a new association.

Geddes noted that tourism numbers are up, with many Canadians choosing to stay within the country to travel as opposed to heading south to the U.S.

Spending in the local economy has softened though, as shoppers are more cautious with their spending habits, amid tariff and hiring uncertainties.

The AGM was also an opportunity to appoint the board of directors for the upcoming year.

Dean Lovell will serve another year as President, with Terry Chesla again serving as Vice President.
