Teams of "tacky tourists" gathered at Heartland Bowl on Feb. 27 to raise money for the Heartland Youth Centre.

The 38th annual Bowl for Kids fundraiser has surpassed its fundraising goal, bringing in more than $20,000 to support local youth programming.

The event, held Feb. 27 at Heartland Bowl, drew teams of bowlers dressed in “tacky tourist” attire to raise money for programs at the youth centre.

Funds raised go towards programming at the youth centre at 5002 47 St., which provides activities, mentorship & a supervised space for young people in Stettler.

The centre is now operated by Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada, a national organization that supports youth and family programming in communities across the country.

Local organizers say the continued support from Stettler residents & businesses helps ensure programs remain accessible for youth ages 6-18.

Final fundraising totals are expected to be announced once all donations have been processed.

The youth centre will also hold its annual general meeting on March 23 at the facility.
