Volunteers & HYC members celebrate their awards night on March 23.

The Heartland Youth Centre (HYC) was a hub of activity Monday night as the organization held its Annual General Meeting & Volunteer Recognition Night.

According to the 2025-2026 annual report released at the meeting, the Boys & Girls Club (BGC) of Stettler served 354 youth over the past year.

The centre also provided more than 1,300 meals to children after school, a service made possible through sponsors including Zoe & Shane’s No Frills, Stettler Walmart & BMO.

While the centre celebrated its financial & operational milestones, officials emphasized that the “heart” of the organization remains its volunteers.

Adult mentors contributed over 1,400 hours to the program last year.

However, organizers noted a persistent need for more adult mentors, specifically to pair with male youth currently in the program.

The evening also highlighted the youth themselves.

Seventy-one members took part in community service projects, ranging from bottle drives to highway clean-ups.

The night concluded with the 2026 HYC Volunteer Awards & the announcement of the “Bowl For Kids” winners.

Fundraisers such as the Awesome Auction & Bowl For Kids, continue to help the HYC offer its services to the Stettler area.

Plaques, awards & trophies laid out for the BGC HYC Volunteer Recognition Night.
