National Day For Truth & Reconciliation:

Town Council was presented with an invitation to participate in activities for the upcoming National Day For Truth & Reconciliation.

The Friendship Circle of Stettler & Area will hold a Walk of Remembrance on September 30th, on the north end of Main Street, outside of the Town Office.

Culture presentations will then take place at the Hub from 1-4 PM to reflect on the meaning of the day, followed by a drum circle at 2 PM.

Attendees can also browse an artisan market, and hear from author Lee Hamelin.

Bead & drum making classes will be held in the evening at the Stettler Recreation Centre. Councilors were invited to take part during their second council meeting of September.

Grader & Loader Tire Replacements

Town Council has also approved an amendment to replace the tires on a grader and loader ahead of this year’s snow removal season.

Quotes to replace the tires have come in higher than expected, at $18,000 for the grader, & $12,000 for the loader, for a total of $30,000.

$35,000 of unspent funding is available from two gravel accounts this year, which could be used to cover the tire purchases, plus any additional repair work needed during the season.

Councilors approved the reallocation, requesting that administration adjust the 2024 operating budget with these changes.
