A delegation from the Stettler Public Library attended council on Nov 19 to present their 2025 budget.

The group spoke about the number of services they provide alongside physical books.

The library has items such as e-books and DVDs for rent, as well as other digital resources.

They also provide help with government forms, as well as resources to help with digital literacy skills.

They noted their “Come For A Byte” courses have been quite popular.

The sessions teach those 50+ about cybersecurity tips, as well as how to get the hang of new digital technologies.

Council voted in favour of their $255,598 request to be funded from the Town’s 2025 Operating Budget.

This is a slight increase from the $251,766 approved in 2024. It was noted that the cost of e-book licences has been increasing in recent years.

The Stettler Public Library reported having 1,480 active cards in 2024, up from 1,374 in 2023.

They’ve had over 58,000 guests as of Halloween this year, which is nearing their total of 67,316 visitors last year.
