Stettler’s Peavy Mart is among the stores slated to close later this year, the company confirmed this morning.
Rumors began swirling of the closure of all Peavy Marts on Sunday, after the company announced the closure of 22 stores in Ontario.
The Stettler store is one of 90 Peavy Marts across Canada affected by this news, as well as six Mainstreet Hardware locations.
Peavey Mart has since put out a statement, “Yesterday (Jan 27), our company announced that it had sought and obtained an Initial Order for creditor protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) from the Court of King’s Bench Alberta.”
The rural farm supply store has been a staple in the Canadian economy for nearly 60 years. The release states that closing & liquidations will commence immediately.
