The two summer villages at Buffalo Lake are looking to allow golf carts on roads within their boundaries.

In September 2024, the Alberta government introduced a five year pilot project under the Traffic Safety Act to allow municipalities to regulate golf carts on public roadways.

During their Feb 12 meeting, county council directed administration to bring back a draft bylaw with options for council to consider. An approved bylaw would allow Rochon Sands & White Sands to begin registering vehicles, as well as designate where golf carts are allowed.

A draft bylaw is expected to come back to the county council either during the second meeting of February, or the first meeting in March.
