Stettler celebrates after winning series

The Stettler Imperials have advanced to the second round of the ECSHL playoffs.

The Imperials beat out the Irma Aces in four games. The series concluded in Irma on Saturday, February 22. Game 4 of the series went the distance with the game going into overtime. The league’s leading point-getter, Dylan Houston would seal the win in the overtime frame and put the game-winning puck past the Aces goalie. The final score was 5-4.

Now, the Imperials take on the team that they haven’t been able to get through the last couple of years. The Sedgewick Sabres.

Last year, the Imperials were swept by the Sedgewick Sabres in the championship series, 4 games to none.

The Imperials will be looking to exact some revenge.

This year, the Stettler Imperials and Sedgewick Sabres will battle in the league’s semi-final. The winner of this round will play for the Ralph Wiest Memorial Trophy in the championship series.

The official schedule for the 5-game series between Stettler and Sedgewick hasn’t been released yet, but the series will likely start in Sedgewick on Friday, February 28 , and back in Stettler for game 2 on Saturday, March 1.

During the regular season, the Sabres defeated the Imperials 3-2 on November 15 and 2-0 on January 25.

The Imperials have a tough task in front of them as they will have to find a way to put pucks behind one of the league’s best netminders Travis Child who has a .922 save % through 19 games.

Hometown Productions and Media will be livestreaming all of the home games on our Youtube channel.
