Stettler County Council will go ahead with the purchase of two plow trucks instead of one. During their Feb 12 meeting, council awarded a tender to Viking Cives Ltd. of Nisku for a Freightliner truck for $375,923.

On March 12, administration reported the county would receive a discount on purchasing two plow trucks at the same time, ahead of tariff uncertainty with the US.

After some discussion, council approved the purchase of two plow trucks with sanders for $371,696 each, saving about $4,227 on each vehicle.

The purchase of a second plow truck is listed in the capital plan for 2026, as council heard the Freightliner trucks are expected to be delivered by October 2025.

$495,000 was allocated in the 2025 budget for a new plow truck, with the motion directing the remainder to be funded from reserves.
