Stettler Town Council gave their approval to the three purchases listed in their 2025 capital budget during the only council meeting in March. (Mar 18)

New Tree Chipper

Administration recommended the council purchase a new tree chipper, as their current one has been in service since 1996.

Council approved a motion to purchase a Vermeer BC1000 XL-Brush Chipper for $73,630.96 + GST from Canoe Procurement Group of Canada.

$70,000 was set aside in the 2025 capital budget for a new wood chipper, with administration reporting the sale of the old chipper is expected to bring in $7,000-$10,000 at auction.

¾ Ton Truck Purchase

Council also gave their approval to purchase a new ¾ ton extended cab 4×4 truck for their fleet. $70,000 was allocated to purchase a new vehicle in 2025, with three local dealerships contacted for quotes.

Administration recommended council award the tender to Aspen Ford for $59,249 excluding GST, and to outfit the vehicle with a toolbox, radios & a headache rack for $8,000, for a total of $67,249 from the 2025 capital budget.

Floor Scrubber for the Stettler Recreation Centre

Finally, the council approved the purchase of a new floor scrubber for the SRC.

The 2025 capital budget included $12,000 for a walk behind floor scrubber to replace the one currently in use there.

Council awarded a $12,499 tender plus GST to Canoe Procurement Group of Canada for a T300e walk behind scrubber.

Upon arrival, the current SRC scrubber will be moved to the Stettler Community Hall, and their floor scrubber will be placed up for sale.
