Construction work will proceed on sewer hookups for three properties within the Hamlet of Gadsby.

County council met on Apr 23 to review the proposal, which would see the vacant bank building, church & ball diamonds hooked up to municipal water service.

Council had first looked at this at their previous meeting, but asked that it be brought back with further cost estimates.

The Gadsby bank building had previously been hooked up to the sewer service, but was disconnected, with a cost of $6,150 listed for septic work.

Meanwhile, the church building is hooked up to the municipal water service with a seasonal meter. Staff noted a cost of $10,450 for the facility, due to an added discharge line.

Finally, the ball diamond septic building is also on a seasonal meter, with upgrades estimated at about $7,250.

A RV dumping station at the ball diamonds is also included in the proposal, costing about $2,500. A $10,000-$15,000 estimate is also listed for bathroom facilities and a concrete pad with water fixtures at the ball diamonds.

County council approved a motion to fund the sewer connections to the bank & church buildings, as well as the ball diamonds & additions, either from Gadsby’s MSI funding or the Canada Community Building Fund.
