County of Stettler council has approved the purchase of a road planer to assist with local infrastructure rehabilitation.
During its June 11 meeting, council awarded the $40,500 (plus tax) tender to Finning Canada (CAT) in Red Deer, selecting the company from among three quotes received.
Administration noted the County previously relied on rentals and outside contractors for the specialized equipment.
The new planer will connect to a track loader purchased earlier this year and will be used to break up asphalt on roads in hamlets throughout the County.
