On July 11, Pierre Poilievre and Damien Kurek held a town hall event at the Stettler Agriplex, drawing hundreds of attendees from across the region.
The event was held just weeks before the upcoming federal byelection on August 18. Damien Kurek, the current MP for Battle River–Crowfoot, has stepped aside to allow Poilievre to run in the riding after losing his seat in the last federal election.
Supporters filled the venue—every seat and bleacher was taken, with standing room only remaining.
Outside the venue, a small group of demonstrators opposing Poilievre’s policies gathered near the entrance but said they were asked to move further down the street.
Stettler Mayor Sean Nolls and Damien Kurek opened the event before welcoming Pierre Poilievre to the stage. During his 20-minute speech, Poilievre focused on key issues important to Albertans, including his support for pipelines, energy development, and opposition to federal gun control laws.
