AHS Press Release – July 21, 2025
Stettler Hospital and Care Centre has welcomed two newly recruited physicians to provide care to residents of Stettler and area.
Dr. Gabriel Ude, a family medicine physician with obstetrical surgical skills, has joined the team at Stettler Medical Clinic and Stettler Hospital and Care Centre, where he will focus on obstetrics, including prenatal care, deliveries and caesarian sections.
Dr. Victoria Onwuzurike is now practicing at Heartland Medical Clinic, and Stettler Hospital and Care Centre. Community members in need of a family physician are encouraged to call 403-742-4011 to inquire about scheduling a meet-and-greet appointment.
“The arrival of skilled physicians like Dr. Ude and Dr. Onwuzurike marks an exciting step forward in enhancing access to quality care for families in Stettler and surrounding areas,” says Nate Horner, MLA for Drumheller-Stettler, Alberta Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board. “We are delighted to welcome them and look forward to the positive impact they will have on our community.”
Dr. Ude earned his medical degree from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria, and holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Derby, England. He is also a member of England’s Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH). Dr. Ude previously served as a physician at Kinetic Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, prior to coming to Canada.
“I was drawn to Stettler by the warmth and hospitality of the community and its healthcare team,” says Dr. Ude, who enjoys lawn tennis, table tennis, cycling and staying active at the gym.
Dr. Onwuzurike received her medical training in Nigeria and practised there prior to arriving in Canada. In addition to practising full-scope family medicine, she is presently awaiting an assessment to provide low-risk obstetrics in the community.
“Stettler is a great community to raise kids,” says Dr. Onwuzurike. “The people are very welcoming and accommodating, and the AHS hospital staff are very supportive.”
