Stettler County council has appointed councillor Janet Adam to a regional committee being formed by Clearview Public Schools.

During the County of Stettler’s Jan. 14 meeting, council discussed Clearview’s request to develop a bursary program to help bring local post-secondary graduates back to the area.

Representatives on the committee from the Town of Stettler, County of Stettler & Paintearth County to the east will be asked to identify occupations facing local labour shortages.

The committee will decide on eligibility criteria, targeted occupations, bursary amounts & the selection process.

A formal request for funding will follow once the terms of reference are finalized.

The model would build on the recent success of physician recruitment efforts, such as the “Stettler Needs Doctors” campaign, which used financial incentives to attract doctors to the area.
