The Town of Stettler council has approved a one-time exception to its residential development economic incentive policy.
The decision was made during council’s Jan. 20 meeting, & applies to a single-family dwelling constructed in 56A Street Close.
Council originally adopted the residential development incentive on Aug. 5, 2025.
The policy is designed to encourage housing development through incentives for single-family homes, multi-family dwellings & apartments.
Funding levels are set at $3,000 for single-family dwellings, $5,000 for multi-family homes, & $10,000 for apartment developments with five or more units.
Because the policy came into effect on Aug. 5, 2025, only building permits closed after that date are normally eligible.
In this case, the permit for the 56A Street home was closed on March 31, about four months before the eligibility window opened.
The $3,000 incentive was funded from the 2025 budget, as council heard that no other eligible project applications were received last year.
